Ready to elevate your spirit, showcase your skills, and join a team that cheers for success?

The UT Permian Basin Cheer Team is a coed program dedicated to building school spirit and representing the University. Cheerleaders support the Falcons at home football, volleyball, and basketball games, participate in campus and community events, and compete at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Dedication, resilience, and teamwork defined this year’s journey to nationals for UTPB’s spirit programs. Both teams committed themselves fully to preparing for one of the most competitive stages in collegiate athletics, determined to represent their university with pride and push their programs to new heights.

Tryouts 2026 - 2027

Tryout dates for the 2026-2027 UTPB Cheer Team will be announced soon.

Interested in joining? Contact Terry Lynn Lane, Spirit Coordinator, at lane_t@utpb.edu to request a list of required skills and receive updates about upcoming tryouts. Virtual tryouts are also available.

Program Requirements

Incoming freshman must have already applied to UTPB
Good Academic Standing (minimum 2.5 GPA)
Undergraduates must be enrolled in at least twelve (12) semester hours
Graduate students must be enrolled in at least nine (9) semester hours
Must provide medical insurance, proof of current physical, and sickle cell results

Benefits

UT Permian Basin cheerleaders receive scholarships, and the University covers uniforms, cheer camp, and travel expenses for games. Team members also receive priority enrollment.
