New Student Checklist
Prepare to Soar
At UTPB, we're invested in helping students like you make the most of their college experience. With that in mind, we've assembled a helpful checklist to get you started
- IDENTIFY YOUR STUDENT ID NUMBER
You should have received a welcome email after your application was received by UTPB. This email contained your 10-digit StudentID and instructions for claiming your FalconID. If you did not receive this email can reach out to the Office of Admission at (432) 552-2605.
- CLAIM YOUR FALCONID
Visit falconid.utpb.edu and click “Claim Account.” To log in, you will need your 10-digit StudentID, birthdate and phone number.
- ACCESS MYUTPB
Use your new FalconID and password to log in to your student portal. We recommend that you review the checklist on MyUTPB frequently to stay on top of any tasks that may need to be completed.
- LEARN YOUR TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE STATUS
If you are a first-time student, initial testing will be required prior to enrolling in your first semester. Students will fall into one of these categories: exempt, not exempt but have taken the required tests, or not exempt and have not yet completed the required tests. You can contact the Registrar’s Office at (432) 552-2635 for questions regarding your TSI status.
- CHECK ON YOUR VACCINATIONS
All new students and those who are returning after a one semester absence and under the age of 22 will be required to show evidence that they have received the bacterial meningitis vaccination or are eligible for and exemption prior to enrolling.
- COMPLETE YOUR ADMISSION FILE
Turn in all FINAL transcripts (high school and college) and other required documents to the UT Permian Basin Admissions Office.
- TAKE THE DIRECTED SELF PLACEMENT SURVEY
To help determine which writing course you should enroll in, you may need to complete the Directed Self Placement test. You can find more information at utpb.edu/diagnostics.
- REGISTER FOR SOAR
Check your email! You should have received an invitation with a direct link to register for SOAR.
- ARRANGE BILL PAYMENTS
Check your account balance, set up a payment plan or pay your bill online through MyUTPB. Contact the Accounting Office at (432) 552-2706 with questions.
- CHECK YOUR FINANCIAL AID STATUS
Check your account balance, you can verify your financial aid through MyUTPB. For assistance, contact the Office of Financial Aid (432) 552-2620.
- PICK UP YOUR STUDENT ID & PARKING PERMIT
You can receive your student ID and parking permit at the Security Desk. If you need additional information, call (432) 552 -2787.
- BUY YOUR TEXTBOOKS
Take a copy of your class schedule to the UTPB bookstore where our staff can help you select the right books. Or you may purchase your books online. Contact the bookstore at (432) 552-0220 with questions.
- VERIFY CONTACT INFO & REGISTER FOR FALCONALERT
Log in to MyUTPB to verify that your demographic data is updated with your preferred email address, cellphone number, and wireless provider.
